Zither Festival 1994
This CD is a meld of Kurt von Eckroth’s Viennese, Bavarian, and Austrian favorites. The songs are heard as if in public. There have been no overlays or multiple recordings used in the production of this CD.
The zither is an instrument of the Tyrolian Alps and is best remembered for providing music for the movie “THE THIRD MAN”. Anton Karas was both the player and composer. The theme song is on this CD.
This CD is a compilation of some of my favorite melodies and I hope that you enjoy them. The recording was at Roundtable Studio in Eagle, Wisconsin. Thank you, Mike Campbell, for your effort and support during this process.
Ludwig Kalbrunner, from Lake Bluff, Il., is a native of Ruhpolding, Bavaria. He emigrated to the US in 1961 and is without a doubt a zither virtuoso.
Ludwig Kalbrunner and Kurt von Eckroth, teacher and student, were seperated by circumstance for 25 years, until they met at Milwaukee’s GermanFest several years ago. Then and there they decided to put this recording together.
Relax and enjoy the beautiful sound of the zither at Christmas, played by two men who dearly love the instrument.
